Introducing our public cloud: A European alternative for modern cloud services.
At Thalassa Cloud, we believe infrastructure should be modern, flexible, and sovereign – without the complexity or lock-in of hyperscalers. That’s why we’ve launched the Thalassa Public Cloud: a high quality and API first Cloud Services platform designed for DevOps-first teams who want more control and better APIs, without giving up performance or compliance and still want to run their services in Dutch Datacenters.
Fully built in the Netherlands, built Kubernetes-first, and built for the teams running today’s critical software.
We looked around and realized something was missing: a true Dutch public cloud – one that went beyond basic IaaS, respected data sovereignty, and delivered a modern developer experience.
Most “local clouds” stop at virtual machines and basic IaaS. Hyperscalers offer more, but come with complexity and legal ambiguity.
We wanted a better option. So we’re building one – with an ambitious roadmap that includes:
What sets Thalassa apart is that we own the entire stack – not just the physical hardware in datacenters, but also the software. We make extensive use of open source where it fits best, and we’ve built the rest ourselves to ensure everything works together seamlessly. No loose integrations. No bolt-on components. The entire platform, and all the cloud services it provides, is tightly integrated and feels like one cohesive product.
We also operate all of our own internal services and tooling directly on Thalassa Cloud – the same infrastructure our customers use. This keeps us close to the experience of running real workloads on our own platform.
For us, cloud means API-first. Everything we offer is accessible via modern, well-documented APIs and can be integrated using SDKs, Terraform, CLI tools, or directly through automation pipelines.
By operating and owning our own infrastructure and software, we can:
From day one, the Thalassa Public Cloud offers a complete set of IaaS and Kubernetes-native services – all API-first, fully integrated, and designed for automation.
Available now:
You can interact with the platform via console, CLI, SDK, or your preferred infrastructure-as-code tooling. It’s built to fit into modern DevOps pipelines without friction.
The Thalassa Public Cloud runs across three availability zones in the Netherlands, each housed in a separate datacenter building with independent power, networking, and cooling. We utilize a stretched architecture, meaning our network and storage remain available, even in the event of an availability zone outage.
This setup provides:
We’re gradually opening up access to ensure platform reliability at every step.
If you have an invite code, you can skip the queue and start provisioning immediately. If not, you’re welcome to request access – we’ll walk your organization through our quick verification flow.
We prioritize performance and customer experience over growth-at-all-costs. That means careful onboarding, transparent capacity planning, and a commitment to quality over quantity.
The Thalassa Public Cloud is designed with a focus on business needs. At this time, we are prioritizing support for organizations and are not offering personal accounts. We appreciate the interest from individual developers and are continually evaluating how we can best serve all users in the future.
If your team is exploring a move away from legacy providers or hyperscalers, we’d love to hear from you.
Ready to take control of your Cloud Infrastructure?
The launch of our public cloud marks the beginning of an exciting and ambitious journey. Our vision is to create a developer-first infrastructure that prioritizes both innovation and control, as an European alternative Cloud. This is just the first step in a long-term commitment to enhancing our platform with cutting-edge features and capabilities.
In the coming months, we are dedicated to expanding our service offerings to meet the evolving needs of our users. Expect to see a broader range of services that cater to diverse use cases, ensuring that our platform remains versatile and robust. We are also focusing on increasing automation to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention, allowing developers to focus on what they do best—building and innovating.
Observability is another key area of development. We understand the importance of having deep insights into your infrastructure, and we are working on integrating advanced monitoring and logging tools. These enhancements will provide you with greater visibility and control over your applications and services, enabling proactive management and optimization.
For those seeking a Dutch Cloud Provider that is truly Kubernetes-native, API-first, and operated entirely within the Netherlands, Thalassa Cloud is designed with you in mind. Our platform is built to support the unique requirements of European businesses, offering a secure environment that aligns with regional regulations and standards.
Thalassa Cloud. Built for builders. Built for Europe. Join us on this journey as we continue to innovate and redefine what a public cloud can be.
